The project - stage 1

A drive to the village brought the explanation:

The school building was just a ruin

... we learned that a cyclone - a hurricane - had raged in the area in February of that year and had not only destroyed many houses and destroyed the rice crops, but also devastated the school building.

The next day we obtained permission from the episcopal administration to use the building, and at the same time we commissioned the diocese workshops to have new school desks, cupboards and blackboards. These were delivered in January 2009 and since then it has been possible to teach again, albeit under the difficult conditions of a room not intended for this use.

So, as is quite common in cities, we had school clothes made for all the children, trousers, skirts, polo shirts, shirts, blouses and smocks, all with the school's logo on them.
